Company

Founded in 2007 by Margo Majewska, OAK-WAW designs across disciplines and cultures, bringing humanistic approach and artistry to commercial and residential projects to create unique & innovative spaces for clients and audiences.

Our team is comprised of a diverse group of collaborators and consultants with comprehensive expertise in architecture, construction, lighting design, furniture design, interior design, and art.

We provide full design services, from color consultation and space planning, to complete renovation of a house or a commercial space.  We start every project by listening to our clients’ wishes and helping them to organize their priorities. Our personal and collaborative process ensures that your project will be truly custom and carefully tailored to meet your needs and the highest design standards.

The company name, OAK-WAW, derives from the airport codes for Oakland and Warsaw, Margo Majewska’s two home bases.

Founder

Margo Majewska is a multidisciplinary designer with a broad experience in interior design, lighting design, fine arts, and architecture.  Over the last 25 years she has worked on commercial, residential, and institutional projects in the US, Asia, and Europe.

Margo’s professional interests are in interior architecture and the integration of light, digital technologies, and architecture. The questions of how one experiences space and what spatial conditions support those experiences are instrumental to her work. She focuses on investigating the sensorial qualities of space as defined by light, sound and touch – how these engage the body first and how these physical sensations affect what is perceived by the mind.

Prior to starting her own firm in 2007, Margo was an Associate at Esherick, Homsey, Dodge, and Davis Architects and the lead interior designer for several important EHDD projects including: The Global Ecology Center at Stanford University (AIA COTE Top Ten Green projects, 2007), The Portola Café at the Monterey Bay Aquarium, The San Mateo Public Library (LEED Gold, 2008), and Unit 1 and 2 Infill Housing at University of California, Berkeley (AIA National Honor Award, 2008).

Educated in fine arts and architecture, Ms. Majewska was awarded a Bachelor of Fine Arts with Honors from Parsons School of Design, and a Master of Architecture from Columbia University in New York City.

Currently she teaches lighting & interior design at the California College of the Arts (CCA).
